Amy Master's Training Biography PDF Print E-mail

Amy grew up on a boarding and breeding farm in Northwest Ohio. Taught to ride by her mother, she is a fifth generation horseman. Amy started her show career showing lead line and grew up in 4-H. As a teenager, she entered the quarter horse circuit ranks competing in all around events and reining. She and her horse, Rambo Rosemont, qualified for the Youth World Championship Show 15 times (both Nationally and through the state) over a 5 year period and finished in the top ten and made several finals and semi-finals. They also were Reserve All Around Youth in Ohio in 1995. With AQHA Superior awards in Showmanship, Western Horsemanship, Hunt Seat Equitation and Hunter Hack, Amy and Rambo proved to be a force to be reckoned with in the show ring. As a youth competitor, she won 7 top ten medals at the Quarter Horse Congress as well as a championship in Youth Jumping. Much of this success came from her years of riding with Polish hunter/jumper trainer and AQHA World Champion, Francis Nedziela . Other accomplishments worth noting are those achieved with her home-bred reining horse, Great Royal Lady. When time allowed, Amy rode as much as she could with NRHA Hall Of Famer, Mike Flarida. He taught Amy a tremendous amount about the technical aspects of training horses that she still uses today. Hard work pays off, and Amy and her mare Nationally qualified three years in a row for the Youth World, were top ten in the Nation and at the Congress.

Winter Tips PDF Print E-mail
Trainer's Corner with Amy Masters

Winter is a great time to work on making big improvements for next year's show season! Look back on this show season to identify where you and your horse need the most improvements. Also, decide upon your goals for the 2009 show season. Then you have your homework for the winter. Start with one or two skills at a time in which you build up your competence. Always start with small pieces and use them as building blocks to get to the bigger picture. And never give up! If you hit a plateau that you do not know how to get past, seek the help of an experienced trainer. You need to have a vision of where you want to be at the beginning of the new show season. Then you can monitor your progress as the season draws near. You need to start with multiple short term goals (week to week improvements) in order to achieve your larger goals in the show ring.
